In this workshop, fiber artist Alanna Wilcox guides you through the process of spinning with intention, helping you move beyond guesswork to create yarns that meet the specific needs of your designs. You’ll learn to analyze yarn construction, resolve inconsistencies, and master the details of twist, thickness, plies, and color outcomes, empowering you to spin with clarity and control. By the end, each project will become a fulfilling, skill-building experience, transforming how you approach your craft.

Traditional spinning wheels, e-spinners and drop spindlers welcome.

SKILL LEVEL:  Advanced Beginners to Advanced Intermediate Spinners

PREREQUISITES:  Student should be able to spin a continuous yarn and has experience with plying

A material fee of $18 to be paid to the instructor via PayPal or Venmo prior to the workshop.

Material fee includes: fiber and handouts

Student should bring:  

• Yarn making tool: (working spinning wheel, electric spinner, or drop spindle)
• Spinning wheel oil (for spinning wheels and electric spinners)
• 1 empty bobbin with leader
• a commercially written pattern to use for reference
• commercial yarn that the pattern calls for (a yard sample is plenty)
• *optional* Magnifying glass
