Workshop Info

Does your heart pound when your needle falls out of your knitting and your stitches come loose? What about when you realize you made a mistake in the pattern five rows below the current one? We’ll talk about how to return loose stitches to the needle in the correct orientation, how to drop down to correct certain types of mistakes, and how to ladder up your knitting using a crochet hook. You’ll also learn some tricks for fixing miscrossed cables, adding lifelines, and picking up missing yarnovers in lace. This workshop will give you confidence to decide when you can fix your knitting and when you really do need to rip back.

SKILL LEVEL:  Beginner with some experience

PREREQUISITES:  Knits, purls

HOMEWORK:  With DK or worsted weight yarn and the appropriate needles (e.g. US Size 6-8), cast on 28 sts.

Row 1 (RS): [K2, p2] 3 times, k4, p2, [k1, p1]4 times, k2.
Row 2 (WS): K2, [k1, p1] 4 times, k2, p4, [k2, p2] twice, then k4.
Repeat Rows 1-2 until you have two or three inches of fabric. Leave the stitches on the needle (in other words, don’t bind off your swatch.)

There is no material fee for this workshop.

Students should bring:  

-Homework

-Scrap yarn for swatching in DK or worsted weight yarn
-Straight or circular needles that correspond to your yarn weight (e.g. Size US 6-8)
-crochet hook that corresponds to your yarn weight
-cable needle and/or dpns
-yarn needle
-removable stitch markers (optional)

Students may also want to bring a battery operated task light, if needed
