Have you ever wanted to take a stab at needle felting? Join Jennifer and Melissa of Going Gnome for this fun and spirited workshop. A new limited edition Rhinebeck Gnome is released each year for New York sheep and Wool, and taught exclusively at the festival.
This year’s gnome is hard at work building a rock cairn. For centuries cairns have been used for navigation – as a trail marking, or to help guide travelers to a destination - or as memorials for lost loved ones, or landmarks. This gnome is setting a marker for us, to guide us on our path forward, or perhaps to help us return when we need to.
In this workshop you will learn to make a solid wool 3 dimensional figure, make and attach felted pieces to one another, and apply surface decoration. This is a great class for absolute beginners, but has plenty to offer those with needle felting experience.
