In this class we play with creating textures by plying and plying again. The
yarns we spin will be double and triple plied. We’ll look at cables, crepe and
boucle. Starting with different fiber
prep, we’ll be spinning singles of different textures, and ply to create
samples of different layered techniques. Students should be able to spin a
single of different weights, and ply comfortably.
Advanced Beginner: Corespinning knowledge is helpful.
Included materials are: assorted batts and combed top, use of plying yarn.
Multiple types of drum carders and an art roving hackle and blending board will be provided for students to use. Additional add in’s, sparkles, plying yarns, fibers, and unusual materials will also be provided for use
Students should bring: mix of batts and top/roving. Spinning wheel, bobbins, bobbin of fresh overspun singles (as even as possible), niddy noddy, lazy kate, any plying yarns they would like to play with.
