36 Color Wheel Workshop -Learn to Dye
This class is perfect for anyone working with animal fibers; spinners, knitters, weavers, needle or wet felters, and anyone who crochets.
Working with the three primary colors; blue, yellow and red, develops a deep understanding of how to mix color. In this class, students will dye protein fibers, in any state; roving, yarn or cloth, using just these three colors. At the end of the day, students will have at least 36 samples of colors in a progression. Depending on the pace of the class, there may be time for individual projects. This is a perfect workshop for beginners, as well as experienced dyers. We will follow some of the concepts developed in my book; Hand Dyeing Yarn and Fleece, which are unconventional. We will use the Color Grid for mixing colors as well as planning color projects. Other topics covered:
How to prepare fiber for dyeing.
Types of dyes.
Techniques for applying dye.
