Class Size - 20 Students
This class will help you understand silk from the egg to the final product. It covers everything about silk from raising silkworms to spinning every form of silk available to spinners. We cover some science, geography, history and lots of spinning. We examine silk fabrics, threads and fibers with magnification devices; reel cocoons; stretch cocoons over frames (hankies); and blend silk with other fibers to create unusual and exotic yarns.
Experience Level: Spinners of any level may take this class

Class Size - 30 Students
Goat fibers are lustrous and soft and they can be used to create wonderful, exotic garments. This spinning class will cover mohair, cashmere, cashgora and pygora. Participants will learn the different grades of fiber avaialble and examine their specific properties to better understand the difference in their look and feel. We will card, comb, blend and spin samples of each.
Experience Level: Spinners of any level may take this class

Wool Carding

Class Size - 15 Students
Well prepared fibers spin easily into beautiful yarns. This class will teach you how to card fibers to prepare batts for spinning woolen style yarns. The fibers carded will be spun during the class, so a wheel or drop spindle is necessary. In the process of learning to card we will explore 10 different breeds of sheep to get a better understanding of the properties of specific types of wool. This class will teach participants to look at the type of wool, the fiber preparation and the spinning technique used to create yarns. This is a very good class for beginners to get a better understanding of how many factors there are in creating yarn.

Class Size - 25 Students
Well prepared fibers spin easily into beautiful yarns. This class will teach you how to comb fibers to prepare top for spinning worsted style yarns. The fibers combed will be spun during the class, so a wheel or drop spindle is necessary. In the process of learning to comb, we will explore 10 different breeds of sheep to get a better understanding of the properties of specific types of wool. This class will teach participants to look at the type of wool, the fiber preparation and the spinning technique used to create yarns.
