Rules:

1.	Registration and entry fee of $20.00 per team, must be postmarked by Oct. 10, 2008. Late entry fee of $30 will be accepted until Friday, October 17, 2008 at 11am. Space is limited to the first seven teams.
2.	Each team will consist of 1 weaver, 3 spinners and 1 announcer. The announcer will be assigned two 15min. time slots to speak to the public about their team history, what the teams are doing and answer questions. When not announcing they may help their fellow team members and be available for individual public questions.
3.	Each team will supply all its own equipment. (i.e. spinning wheel, pre-warped loom, shuttles, bobbin winder, hand cards or flickers)
4.	No drum carders, pickers or electric equipment.
5.	Warp yarn and spinning fiber must be 100% wool.Handspun weft will not exceed 3 times diameter of warp.
6.	*Teams competing for the additional $100. featured breed premium, must provide written proof from featured breed owner, to include, date, breeder address and phone, and total weight purchased. Fleece from current year.
7.	Pre-warp loom (may be handspun, or commercial; dyed or natural) at no fewer than eight ends per inch.
8.	Each item will start with raw fiber which may be washed, it must be in obvious lock formation.
9.	All equipment must arrive between 8am and 9am and be set up by 9:30am. Nothing can be added once the contest begins. Only team members will be permitted in the work area. Team members may not leave the work area during competition unless given permission by the judge.
10.	The competition will begin at 10am and ends at 1pm. Any shawl not completed by 1pm will not be eligible for ribbons or prize money.
11.	The completed shawl must be a minimum of 18" wide and 72" long, excluding optional fringe. (Points will be deducted for being shorter.)
12.	Teams will be judged on the following 100 point basis:

Point Deductions:
a. Less then 72 inches long -25 points
b. Less then 18 inches Wide -25 points
Point Bonus:
a. Team spirit and effort; 5 BONUS points

c. Announcer knowledge of the Feature Breed 5 BONUS points

Rules:

Items must be made after November 1, 2007 and prior to October 17, 2008

Items can be registered on Friday at check-in time with a late entry fee of $4.00 an item.

All entries must be the work of the exhibitor and completed in the past year.

A maximum of 3 entries per class/division may be entered per exhibitor.

Entries must be checked in between 8am and 1pm on Friday and remain on display until 4pm Sunday; otherwise prize money will be forfeited and ability to enter.

Mail in entries must be postmarked by Oct. 10, 2008, and must include a return address label and postage (unless you will be picking up your items at the festival). We are not responsible for items lost in the mail.

All entries will be displayed uncovered but supervised during festival hours. Every effort will be made to display and care for entered pieces but the festival assumes no responsibility for loss or damage.
Items must be picked up between 4 and 5pm unless prior arrangements are made. The Festival is not responsible for unclaimed items left after 5pm; they will become property of DCSWG.

Attach two white 3x5 cards to each entry:PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!! IMPROPERLY MARKED ITEMS WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO BE JUDGED.

On first card card indicate category you are entering, the fiber content, techniques used to prepare fiber, intended use of skein.

On second print name, address and telephone.

NO OTHER TAGS OR LABELS ALLOWED ON ITEMS

JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL.

Handspun Yarn

A minimum of 2 oz. and/or 40 yards (unless otherwise stated); neatly wound with a circumference of 1 1/2 to 2 yards; tied in at least 4 places with matching yarn; and washed to set the twist. (See Rules above)

Classes:

1.	2008 Featured Breed Skein- 100% natural Romney, any technique; to show the use and quality of the featured breeds wool. Proof of Farm origin must be provided.
2.	All Wool Skein- 100% Sheeps Wool. Singles Natural
3.	All Wool Skein- 100% Sheeps Wool Singles; Dyed
4.	All Wool Skein- 100% Sheeps Wool. Two-ply Natural
5.	All Wool Skein- 100% Sheeps Wool Two-ply; Dyed 6. All Wool Skein- 100% Sheeps Wool Three-ply; Natural or Dyed
7.	Lace Weight Skein- 100% Sheeps Wool (Natural or dyed) minimum of 1oz.
8.	Youth (under 16) must state age and experience - At least 50% Sheeps Wool, any technique. 9. Novice Skein- over age 16, spinning less than one year, 50% wool, any technique
10.	Blended Skein- At least 50% Sheeps Wool. Designed to show the versatility of wool when combined with other fibers into a smooth, evenly spun, standard plied yarn.
11.	Novelty Skein- At least 50% Sheeps Wool. Exhibits will be judged on the effectiveness of color, texture, multiplying and other techniques skillfully used to achieve textured type yarn.
12.	Exotic Animal Fiber Skeins- Natural Fibers other than Sheeps Wool (ex. Mohair, Alpaca, Angora, Llama, Silk, etc.) Any technique, blended or not. Minimum of 1 oz and 40 yards.

Handmade Items

	Handmade items of any natural fiber or combination of NATURAL FIBERS. Yarns can be handspun or commercial (must indicate).
	Handspun refers only to yarn produced by the exhibitor, all others are commercial.
	Categories will be divided by Handspun and Commercial if there are more than 15 entries per category.
